Loomis aims for better quality in all HR processes.
The global cash processing company Loomis operates in 16 countries and has more than 20,000 people on its payroll. The company is headquartered in the Nordic region, and Norway is one of five countries where Loomis has started implementing CatalystOne. The objective was to increase the quality and transparency of all HR processes, and so far the move has exceeded all expectations.
Loomis decided to make the change because it found handling Performance Management processes manually to be unsatisfactory.
“Important information was getting stuck in the hands of only a few individuals, and was unavailable to other people who might need it,” says Yvonne Celsing, Director of HR at Loomis.
To simplify and visualise the PM processes, as well as make the information more easily accessible, Loomis decided to introduce systems support. Five of the 16 countries in which Loomis operates were selected to take part in a pilot project. Loomis in Norway and the company’s headquarters in Sweden are among the sites chosen.
Focus on talent, key roles and successors
Obtaining a clear, shared perception of employees’ management competence, potential and achievements has been a key impetus for Loomis. In 2011 the company launched an internal project called “Loomis Future Leaders” whose objective was to create a shared structure for the identification of talented individuals and future leaders.
In order to acquire a good foundation for the evaluation and development of employee competence, Loomis chose to introduce systems support for performance appraisals, as well as calibration across the organisation. By using assessment matrices, managers are able to compare evaluations, thus ensuring a consistent and fair appraisal of employees throughout the organisation.
Scalable and user friendly – crucial factors in the choice of systems support solution
It was crucial for Loomis that the system be simple and user friendly. After a thorough evaluation, CatalystOne was the solution chosen.
“For us the deciding factor in our choice of service provider was user friendliness and the ability to introduce modules one at a time and at our own pace.”
Implementation project exceeds expectations
Loomis is enthusiastic about its choice of service provider, pointing out that CatalystOne has proved to be extremely customer oriented and competent. This has been particularly evident in CatalystOne’s willingness to listen and address the customer’s specific needs and desires.
“The implementation process went according to plan, and otherwise exceeded our expectations, largely thanks to the highly competent consultant that CatalystOne allocated to us, and who did a fantastic job,” says Yvonne.
“Whenever we have come up against choices and preferences specific to us, we have experienced a willingness on their part to accommodate our wishes. In addition, the system offers opportunities for configuration that have resulted in an excellent fit. On those occasions where the system could not be tailored to give us the adjustments we wanted, we have nevertheless found acceptable solutions in conjunction with the consultant. My impression, therefore, is that CatalystOne is a development and solutions-oriented service provider, with a strong customer focus which – as a customer – we naturally appreciate a great deal,” she adds.
Excellent outlook with increased use of digital processes
Although Loomis has only just started to use the system operationally, it is already considering a possible extension of digital support for its HR processes.
“Our next objective is to plug more countries into the Performance Management process. We are also considering which other modules we could use, for processes like bonus management and salary revision, for example. The ability to add more modules as required is, as previously mentioned, one of the major advantages of CatalystOne,” says Yvonne in conclusion.
A digital tool that helps with these processes gives better quality and consistency throughout the group. It provides a better overview and a better basis for making decisions.
