Efficient IT tools for management processes – a key reason behind EVRY’s success.
Efficient HR tools help to ensure that EVRY achieves its targets and is well placed to cater for the needs of the future,” explains EVRY’s Head of Recruitment and Talent Management, Else Wiik Eckhoff. A total of 7,500 employees currently use CatalystOne Solutions software, and the tools are now an integral part of the company’s management and sales processes.
EDB and ErgoGroup merged in 2010 before changing name to EVRY in 2012. The new IT giant identified a pressing need to harmonise key management processes and to establish shared IT tools. One important remit was to embed a shared solution for employee performance appraisals and a searchable employee skills inventory.
“CatalystOne’s tools for employee performance appraisals have made it easier to link the company’s targets and commercial strategies to individual employees’ daily duties and view these in the context of overarching development targets,” comments Else Wiik Eckhoff, EVRY’s Head of Recruitment and Talent Management.
“We are a large knowledge-based business. Consequently, tools that provide us with a useful and structured skills inventory for all employees are critical to our success – and this is exactly what we got from CatalystOne’s competence mapping module.”
Career model linked to employee performance appraisals
EVRY is keen to ensure that its internal employment market functions efficiently. Targeted initiatives to develop skills and career paths for individuals will make sure that both managers and employees possess the expertise on which the company’s future success will be built. CatalystOne’s HR tools have provided EVRY with a holistic and quality-assured process tailored to the company’s needs.
“EVRY has developed a career model that, together with CatalystOne, we have linked to employee performance appraisals. This has boosted internal commitment and motivation,” explains Wiik Eckhoff. “We have established an extremely effective partnership with CatalystOne, whom we have found to be highly professional and sensitive to our needs. The company has a clear desire to further enhance its products and takes account of many of our ideas and input in product development.”
Company-wide skills inventory
Having a detailed skills inventory plays a critical role in enabling different departments to identify and call on each other’s expertise. CatalystOne’s competence mapping module provides EVRY with a structured and holistic overview of all employees’ skill sets. CatalystOne Solutions’ HR software has helped to enhance EVRY as an organisation and skills-based business. Efficient follow-up of development targets and career paths for individuals has generated commitment and helped us to achieve our targets.
Focus on talent, key roles and successors
“Being able to supply appropriate expertise to the various projects greatly benefits the sales process,” comments Wiik Eckhoff. “In addition, the module has been further developed to guarantee efficient utilisation of resources and to define the individual’s skills and primary/secondary role.” Ensuring that all departments are aware of employees’ skills can open up many new opportunities. The module is integrated with employee performance appraisals and also linked to HR master data and resource management.
“CatalystOne’s tools have helped to develop EVRY as an organisation, in precisely the direction we envisaged,” enthuses Wiik Eckhoff. “We are a large organisation, and it is critical that we break down strategic objectives into targets that are relevant for individuals. Having clear expectations also greatly helps this process. Similarly, our focus on career development makes a vital contribution to recruitment.”

EVRY saw the need for a quality-assured process for performance appraisal and a tool that would provide the company with a good overview of the individual employee’s competence and development. This became even clearer after the merger of Norway’s two largest IT companies, EDB and ErgoGroup in 2010.
CatalystOne’s solution could deliver a workflow that supported what EVRY wanted to achieve with its performance appraisals, ie “increased engagement and better performance”, and the continuous development of its workforce. The system could also be expanded to provide support in other areas, such as talent management.
EVRY has acquired a set of integrated and customised HR tools that allow it to follow up its 7,500 employees in a uniform manner. The solutions meet the company’s need for structured knowledge development, provide a complete overview of the employees’ competence in all departments and streamline the preparation of bids.
EVRY is Norway’s largest IT company, with a total of 10,000 employees. The company is responsible for around one-third of all IT service deliveries in Norway. The company has grown through the acquisition of a number of IT-related enterprises over a period of 50 years.
